Cleaning service Irvine Points Out The Most Neglected Areas During Cleaning – Part 2

Neglected areas according to cleaning service IrvineAs if it’s not difficult enough to find time to clean the areas that scream “Cleaning!”, but you know that at some point you’ll have to tend to the “quieter” areas that silently collect dust and dirt. This post is a continuation of the list of most ignored places during house cleaning according to professional cleaning service Irvine (and the rest of Orange County).

Headboards

Considering the fact that headboards are very close to your face, cleaning them regularly can help reduce allergies and respiratory problems. At the very least, it would make the air you breathe while sleeping much nicer.

Iron or brass headboards just need a simple wipe down with a cloth. An upholstered headboard requires vacuuming with the brush attachment. If your headboard is leather, you can wipe it either with a dry cloth (if it’s only dusty) or with a damp one (if there are stains or fingerprints). It’s not advisable to use any cleaning agents on leather because they might damage it.

Tops of door frames

These should actually be at the top of the list, because the vast majority of people never remember to go over this bit with a cloth. It’s for this reason that scientists who researched the connection between dust and bacteria decided to use this spot for dust sampling. They concluded that because of the small amount of attention that this area receives, it’s the most representative of the dust-locked bacteria in a household.

Lampshades

Lampshades are like a magnet for dust. If your lampshades are light-colored, dust can cause stains and discolorations. There is a variety of ways in which you can clean lampshades, depending on their size and material. You can vacuum them with the upholstery-brush attachment or wipe them with a microfiber cloth. Dust and debris particles can be collected with lint rollers, or you can give the lampshades a light dip in the bathtub to remove dust buildup.

Baseboards

Depending on your lifestyle and home, you’ll see mud, food, dirt and dust on baseboards. If not cleaned regularly, baseboards could become discolored. Prevention is easy – wipe them with a clean cloth or use a well-stirred mixture of warm water and detergent to remove the stains.

Cleaning Service Santa Ana Says You Forgot to Clean This – Part 1

Neglected area according to cleaning service Santa Ana“I’ll go over that bit next week when I have more time” – does that sound familiar? That next week is almost never next week. We’re not trying to pin the blame, everyone lives a hectic life these days. Unfortunately, if you don’t follow up on your cleaning schedule, you’ll see dust and grime pile up in the areas you never get round to. And not only there. According to the experience of our professional cleaning service Santa Ana, there are spots in households that seem like no-one ever remembers to clean. Which are they?

Computer equipment & appliances

How often do you eat at the computer desk or in front of TV? Be aware that crumbs and food stains are bacteria magnets. Even if you fall in the admirable minority of those who don’t eat and switch channels or type at their computer keyboard, you should still clean the devices you use daily. The sheer amount of their use calls for this. What should you give a good wiping during the next cleaning?

  • Phones
  • Computer mice
  • Computer keyboard
  • Intercoms
  • Remote controls
  • Light switches

To thoroughly clean these areas, use a microfiber cloth and a cotton swab dipped in some rubbing alcohol to get in between the keys. If there are crumbs and loose debris in the key gaps, use a toothpick to get them out. Before you clean the keyboard, turn it upside down, so that crumbs, if any, fall out.

Before you clean these devices, make sure they are unplugged or that the batteries are taken out.

Tops of bathroom cabinets

Unless you’re as tall as an NBA player, you can’t see the dust that sits atop your bathroom cabinets. Well, as the saying goes – out of sight, out of mind. If you actually use the cabinet tops as extra storage space, it just means that dust will be more demanding to get rid of. Should you go the extra mile and clean this? Yes, you should (someone has to say it). If you just leave that dust be, the steam and hot air rising up will turn it into grime. And whatever dust doesn’t become grime will float around and settle in other places.

Door handles and knobs

Door handles and knobs don’t gather dust, but they collect germs and bacteria. When someone is ill, it’s especially important that you wipe door handles and knobs with some anti-bacterial agent. You should do this even when no one is ill, because we all spread germs regardless of whether we contract disease from them or not.

Tops of picture frames, picture rails and mirrors

It’s such a small and inconspicuous surface that it’s super easy to leave it to store dust. People are often stunned to see the incredible amounts of dust that can find home on top of picture frames and mirrors. If you remember to clean these, you’ll likely see less dust collecting in other, lower places in the room.

This is not all! Find out which other areas need your attention in Part 2 of this post.

Do you want to leave it to top trusted cleaning service Santa Ana (also available across OC and LA)?

Instead of looking into the neglected nooks and crannies, you can choose to enjoy a glass of wine, martini or smoothie? Coupled with a massage, conversation or a relaxing movie. Yes, you can, if you delegate the cleaning to pros who’d be happy to do it for you. Maid This! offers you highest-standard cleaning at very affordable rates. We’ve had more than 20,000 cleanings in LA! We invite you to check out our Yelp profile to see for yourself what people think of our services and customer care. If you don’t need any more proof of our professionalism, you can just skip over to the booking page and reclaim your time!

Airbnb Automation: 6 Ultimate Ways to Increase Efficiency

AirBnB automationThis content is courtesy of AirGMS, all-in-one vacation rental management software specifically for Airbnb businesses. It allows users to control bookings and alterations, guest communications, as well as automate day-to-day operations.

Lots of people tend to believe that Airbnb business automation is just for large companies. However, there are quite a few ways that you can conveniently automate your rental business as an individual host as well.

The process of automation refers to implementing repetitive and automatic sequences for handling to-do’s such as adjusting property pricing, answering emails, and other tasks that you’d normally handle manually. This frees up time on your plate that you can spend elsewhere.

Here are 6 ways you can automate your Airbnb processes and maximize your efficiency.

Check-in Automations

This is pretty much the key exchange procedure. You can easily automate this process and spare a serious amount of time for both you and your guests. There are quite a lot of ways to do so – you can simply tell them where to find the lock box and how to return the key when they leave.

Additionally, you can use a smart lock which is, by far, the newest technological invention. It allows access to the property once it receives a verified wireless signal from your smartphone.

You can also use electronic locks which eliminate the entire hassle of having to use keys. This option gives you the advantage of generating a unique entry code for each guest..

Regardless of what you go for, automating this process will alleviate a lot of hassle. You won’t have to schedule your affairs around the check-in and check-out times of your guests.

Using Sensors

Sensors can help you automate a range of different “routine” activities at your property. For instance, you can have a motion sensor turn on and off the lights – this can seriously reduce the electricity bill. Furthermore, for safety reasons, you should have a carbon monoxide and a water leak sensor which detect when you have a certain issue at your property that could lead to serious issues.

You can easily integrate sensors with different applications such as SmartThings in order to create rules for how your automation devices respond when the sensor detects a certain event. For instance, you will receive alerts from the application if your water leak sensor detects water or if the temperature changes.

Temperature Automation

As an individual host, you need to make sure that your property consistently maintains at a temperature that is comfortable for your guests. Automation units are particularly helpful when it comes to heating and cooling your property.

When you install this unit, you can rest assured that the ambient temperature in your place is going to be reasonable. You can easily check it, usually through an integrated smartphone application.

Automating Your Cleaning

Automating your cleaning can also be especially efficient in terms of cost and effort. You don’t have to be a one-man band. Consider hiring a cleaning company for turnover or occasional cleanings.

If you believe you have some more important things to do (like growing your business), this is something that that could really save you time. Besides, you can easily include your expenses as a cleaning fee. This is a matter of a balanced Airbnb pricing strategy.

Automated Email

Responses to your email and message queries will improve your overall customer service. What’s more, failing to provide prompt responses can actually get you penalized. This is something that you should consider.

Using an auto-responder can help you alleviate some of that stress. Most platforms allow you to set up preliminary automated messages which will provide quicker responses to your guests for more efficient Airbnb management.

You’ll be able to include a range of different information, including Wi-Fi passwords, check-in as well as check-out policies, directions to your property, key-exchange instructions and other important information.

Personalize the message in a way that would appeal to all guests.

Vacation Rental Software

Vacation rental software spares many a vacation rental host a lot of effort and money. Thanks to comprehensive automated approaches, vacation rental softwares easily manage a bulk of your affairs for you. For example, AirGMS is a convenient software platform that hosts a range of features to automate the business side of your Airbnb venue.

Vacation rental software programs handle tasks like guests’ communication management, messaging automation, notification automation, setting up different templates, price management, and much more. They’re also equipped with calendars that enable you to conveniently track your bookings.

While it’s certainly true that automation can’t eliminate the work in its entirety, it is capable of alleviating a significant amount of effort that you’d otherwise have to put in. Moreover, it also reduces the possibility of miscalculations and helps optimize profits.

Is Your Vacation Rental Pet-Friendly?

vacation rental pet friendly
People love their pets. That’s just a fact.

Did you know that approximately 68% of households now report they have some sort of pet in their home? That’s right: 68 percent of households have a pet.

Now, it’s possible that many of those households have things like birds, turtles, fish or other animals that don’t travel well. However, it’s also safe to assume that a good number of them have travel-friendly pets, such as dogs (or cats, in some cases).

A good percentage of that pet-owning group is also likely to travel at least once a year and they’re going to need to find a place to take Fido. Boarding pets is pretty expensive and, like we said, people love their critters and don’t always enjoy being separated from them.

Here’s what we’re getting at: As a vacation rental host, it might behoove you to list your place as pet-friendly. Here are 5 reasons why you should be renting to guests traveling with animals.

1. Everyone else isn’t doing it.

We’ve discussed time and time again how difficult it has become to appear unique in a sea of vacation rental listings. As the industry continues to gain more and more traction among travelers, it’s even harder to do things to set yourself apart.

That being said, far fewer vacation rentals are listed as being pet-friendly. This gives you an immediate jump up the list of available rentals for a very specific niche.

Pet owners are always looking for friendly and accepting places to bring their furry kids and – just like parents of human children – they talk. This could be a great opportunity for you to score some referrals, too.

2. You have another hosting edge.

You’ve probably gone out of your way to prepare some kind of welcome packet or helpful notes for your guests. This might include suggestions on where to eat around the neighborhood, fun places to visit, or general information that will be helpful during their stay as well as instructions for checking out.

If you’re hosting guests with pets, you have another benefit to highlight: Places they can go and bring their four-legged friends along. If there are local hangouts that are also pet-friendly, make a point to mention them in a special section of your welcome packet. List nearby dog parks, pet-friendly restaurants or cafes, as well as any specific instructions you have for animals staying in your home.

3. You can make more money.

Pet owners aren’t scared off by higher-than-usual deposits or non-refundable pet fees. In fact, they’re usually pretty used to it. Not every pet owner is responsible and manages their animal well; sadly, everyone else must pay the price for their poor travel conduct.

By charging higher rent to serve as “pet rent” or by including additional cleaning fees, you have an opportunity to make more money than you would from pet-free guests.

Here’s something to note, though: Some experts suggest that you’re better off charging higher rent than to charge deposits. Many guests will be turned off by the thought of non-refundable deposits but won’t think twice about paying a higher rent amount to accommodate their animal.

Industry leaders and organizations like the Foundation for Interdisciplinary Research and Education Promoting Animal Welfare (FIREPAW) state that pet-friendly rentals can charge anywhere from 20-30% more in rent over the amount offered to non-pet owners. That adds up pretty quickly.

4. You still have control.

There’s plenty of reasons why you might want to list your vacation rental with an “instant book” option but, as you know, this removes a number of factors from your control.

However, if you individually approve all guests and reserve the right to decline prospects based on the size, age or breed of their pet, you still remain in the driver’s seat.

To feel as though they exercise more control, some hosts don’t charge additional fees or rent for pets but pretend to be doing their guests “a big favor” by allowing their animals to join them for free during their stay. According to Elizabeth Weedon at WeNeedaVacation.com, when guests feel like the host is going out of their way to accommodate their pet, they’re “so conscientious about picking up after their [animal].”

If you need help getting started with what you’ll allow in your home, the team at HomeAway has put together an awesome resource for deciding what parameters to put into place as you prepare to rent to pet owners.

5. You’re not likely to incur any more damage than usual.

Now, this is definitely not always the case, but generally speaking, folks who travel with their pets tend to have a better handle on their animal’s behavior. Keep in mind that your guests aren’t going to be living long-term in your vacation rental and therefore, there’s not much time for their pet to destroy your place.

What’s more is that pets aren’t human children. Young kids are hard enough to manage and arguably, they’re more challenging to keep tabs on than animals. Remember that control we just talked about? It can come into play here, too. If you say “no” to puppies and kittens, you’re less likely to incur physical damage to your place.

What it really boils down to is this: Pets may have accidents if they don’t make it outside fast enough but they’re not likely to draw all over your walls or furniture with things they find in a drawer or in mom’s purse. It’s something to think about!

There’s more than one way to improve your occupancy rate and ensure you’re booked year-round. Though there are always a few risks involved, the payoff is definitely worth it. By catering to guests who have pets, you’ll be giving yourself more opportunities to stay busy, make more money, and potentially gain additional referrals.
